Award-Winning Driveways & Paving Across Hampshire
From your first phone call to the final sweep — the family-run driveway process explained.
One of the things customers tell us they value most about working with a small family business is knowing exactly what’s going to happen and when. There are no surprises in our process, no salespeople, no opaque pricing, no “today only” pressure. This page lays out exactly how we work from the moment you first get in touch through to the day we hand you the keys to your finished driveway.
You ring us on 01329 446 029, WhatsApp us, or send a message via the contact form. We pencil in a free site visit at a time that suits you — usually within 7-14 days depending on your area. A member of the family team comes out, measures up, listens to what you actually want, looks at access, levels and drainage, and discusses materials and budget. No cost, no obligation, no high-pressure sales.
Within 3-5 days of the site visit you get a written quote by email, with a clear material specification, dimensions, sub-base depth, edging detail, drainage approach and a fixed price. For larger projects we include sketch designs or, if it’s a complex frontage, an optional 3D design and modelling service so you can see exactly what you’re getting.
Quotes are valid for 30 days. We don’t use sales-pressure tactics like “today-only discounts” — the price is the price.
If you’d like to see materials in real life before committing, we’ll either drop samples round, take you to a recommended showroom, or share photos of similar finishes we’ve installed nearby. Seeing the block paving or resin colour against your actual brickwork in actual Hampshire daylight matters more than any catalogue can show you.
When you’re happy, you give us the go-ahead and we book a start date. A small deposit (typically 20-25%) secures the slot and covers initial material ordering. The balance is split into stage payments tied to clear milestones rather than asked-for up front — that protects both sides.
Start date arrives. Our family team turns up with the right machinery, the skip’s on site, and your lawn is protected with boards. We excavate to the correct depth (200mm minimum for standard driveways, 300mm where heavier vehicles will park), remove spoil tidily, and prepare the formation. The bit nobody sees, done properly.
Type 1 MOT sub-base laid and compacted in layers, edge restraints concreted into haunching, drainage installed (linear drains, soakaways, or permeable detailing depending on your spec). This is the part of the job that determines whether your driveway lasts 5 years or 25 years. Every detail is built to BS 7533 standards at minimum.
The surface goes down — block paving, resin, tarmac or natural stone — jointed, cleaned and (where appropriate) sealed. Final inspection with you walking the job. We don’t leave site until you’re happy with every detail.
We hand over care instructions, the workmanship guarantee in writing, and the family contact details for anything you need afterwards. We’ll typically swing back in 6-12 months to check the jointing and top up sand where needed at no charge. Beyond that we’re always a phone call away.
How long the actual installation takes depends on size, materials, drainage requirements and weather. Here’s a rough family-team guide:
| Project type | On-site days | Total project time |
|---|---|---|
| Small block paved driveway (1-2 cars) | 4-6 days | 2-3 weeks from booking |
| Larger block paved driveway with edging | 6-10 days | 3-4 weeks from booking |
| Resin-bound driveway | 3-5 days* | 3-4 weeks from booking |
| Tarmac driveway with block borders | 4-7 days | 2-4 weeks from booking |
| Driveway plus walls / fencing / patio | 10-15 days | 4-6 weeks from booking |
*Resin install times are short, but the surface needs the sub-base laid 2-3 weeks beforehand to fully cure, so total project time is longer than the days on site suggest.
To keep the project tidy, here’s the rough split:
The single biggest difference between working with our family business and working with a national chain is accountability. When you ring us in five years’ time about a sunken paver, the same family answers. When something needs sorting under guarantee, there’s no call centre, no franchise dispute, no “we’ll get back to you”. Just the family team that did the original job.
That’s the simplest possible explanation of how it works. Free quote, fair price, proper installation, and people you can actually get hold of afterwards. Ready to start? Get in touch for your free site visit.
